There is a letter, in the archive, where GPS founder John Giorno writes to GPS board member (and legendary MoMA curator) Kynaston McShine. It reads:
“Dear Kynaston,
We're in business.
Love,
John”
“Dear Kynaston,

John”
It's dated September 1974, which corresponds to when the IRS informed GPS that it had approved its application for 501(c)3 status as a public charity.
In September 2024, GPS turns 50 years old.
To mark this occasion are three events across three days.

Peter Ungerleider's (1947–1997) film and video projects was concerned with the mechanics of the built environment and the tools used to document or illustrate that environment. His archive is held at the Harvard Film Archives.
Shawn Escarciga is the Development Director at Visual AIDS and also a multidisciplinary maker, administrator, and connector existing somewhere between performance, comedy, and community-engaged work. They think on what non-oppressive, anti-capitalistic structures of art-making/valuing might look like, calling in humor and absurdity to keep it spicy.
