Giorno Poetry Systems has a long history supporting the Padmasambhava Buddhist Center (PBC).
Founded in 1989 by Venerable Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche and Venerable Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche, PBC seeks to preserve the authentic message of Buddha Shakyamuni and Guru Padmasambhava in its entirety and to bring the teachings to the West. PBC has 13 locations around the world.
Khenchen Palden and Khenpo Tsewang met John Giorno in the early 1970s through their mutual teacher, Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche Jigdral Yeshe Dorje (known as Dudjom Rinpoche).

In 1992, Khenchen Palden and Khenpo Tsewang consecrated prayer flags on the roof of 222 Bowery, making it an official location of PBC. Since then, GPS has hosted members of the PBC community for teachings and meditations at 222 Bowery.

Since Giorno's death in 2019, GPS has continued to give annual grants to the Padmasambhava Buddhist Center and continues to host monthly teachings and meditations at 222 Bowery.
