In his essay AIDS Monologue (1992) John Giorno writes:

“Being generous doesn't cost anything. We give money free. It doesn’t cost anything to give money. It doesn’t cost anything for me to talk to you or for you to talk to me. You don’t have to charge money for writing a check. You don’t have to charge money for being professional. You just do it. Giving money is one of the sweetest songs anyone can sing.”

In this spirit, GPS accepts donations for our granting programs. 100% of these donations go to recipients of the next granting cycle.

A rotating jury of queer artists, poets, and musicians award Treat a Stranger grants to other  artists, poets, and musicians in need of support for cost-of-living-related expenses. The Buddhist Grant supports the work of the Padmasambahava Buddhist Center and those who study in the lineage of Nyingma Buddhism.
