& April 13, 2025

Detailed schedule and tickets below

Limited capacity
In response to our invitation to present a night of music, the artist Michael E. Smith has created what he calls “4D mixtapes.”

Made from love, in space and time,
he writes, starting with musicians and works that have meant a great deal to me as my material

Each “mixtape” involves different sculptures and different music. Each one creates a different environment that introduces (but also inevitably contributes to) some of the musicians he loves. Each one is an exhibition, a performance, a situation—a handful of eggs.

There are five of them, over the course of three days, and each one lasts two hours. Some happen very late at night, others in the morning, and others in the evening.

There is also a sixth exhibition, conceived alongside these five, which is on view at Andrew Kreps Gallery, a few blocks away, opening on April 11, from 6 to 8pm.
Some of the artists and musicians Michael has chosen to share include:

JESSIE MAE HEMPHILL,
MICHAEL HURLEY,
TENOR RISING DRUMS EXPANDING,
RIK DAVIS,
WINDY WEBER,
ROSCOE HOLCOMB,
MICHAEL SNOW,
PRINCE,
and others.

Part of the intention behind producing five distinct events is to keep the space from getting crowded.

All ticket-buyers receive a mixtape made by the artist.
